When it’s time to pack up for moving into new home, the bedroom is usually the highest priority. It is where we keep most of our personal belongings, and we naturally want to make sure that they arrive in good condition.
When packing the bedroom objects, start by packing and sorting the least used bedrooms first, such as spare rooms or guest rooms. These rooms once packed can also act as a place to accumulate dismantled furniture and packed boxes. Following are the steps that you will require for packing the bedroom’s belongings –
- Large, Small and Medium-sized boxes.
- Brown paper or plain newsprint paper.
- Bubble wrap.
- Wardrobe boxes (optional).
- Peanuts or packing popcorn.
- Sealing Bags.
- Marker, labels, sealing tapes.
Pack the Closet – Each family member can help to pack their own rooms. Remove everything from the closet and move it out into the middle of the room. After removing, start sorting the content and select the appropriate sized boxes for packing.
Pack the Clothes – If you don’t want wrinkles, then you have to purchase wardrobe boxes for packing the clothes. Otherwise, leave the clothes on a hook or hanger and fold into a medium to large-sized box lined with a plain paper. Don’t forget to label the box correctly and ensure that boxes are not too heavy to carry.
Pack the Shoes – If you no longer have individual boxes for each pair of shoes, then wrap each pair together in newsprint paper and place them in a medium-sized box. Light clothing, soft blankets or pillows can be used to top off the box. Do not pack anything weighty on the top of the shoes.
Pack the Jewelry – Use secure and small box that you can carry with you when you move for packing the jewelry. Do not pack your valuable items on the moving van.
Pack the Bedding, Pillows and Linen – Use a clear plastic garbage bag for packing the sheets, linens and pillows. It provides a nice cushion for padding into odd spaces on the van or truck.
Pack the Furniture – Remove any parts of furniture that can be removed like glass tops, table legs, bed frames, doors, shelves, etc. and mark on the outside which piece it belongs to. If at all possible, make safe assembly instruction books that came with the furniture to the underneath of box.
Pack the Pictures and Frames – Select a box that is bigger than the picture you need to pack and tape one end of the box securely with sealing tape. Wrap the picture using bubble wrap and secure wrapping using sealing tape. After wrapping, slide the picture into the box and seal the box securely using sealing tape.
Pack the Kid’s Stuff – Go through your child’s room with them and ask them to help you in packing.
Pack the Table lamps – Remove the shade and bulb and wrap the cord around lamp base. After disassembling, wrap the lamp using bubble wrap and place it into a taller and strong box.
Pack the Blinds, Curtains and Drapes – Use wardrobe box to keep blinds, curtains and drapes wrinkle and tangle-free. Otherwise, you can wrap them into a plain paper and then pack in a medium-sized box.
